Hey all, looking for another new fixed blade to add to the collection.

Here are my requirements.

Must be Hollow Handled
<$300.00
Nothing to tacky or cheap. I want this to be very functional and reliable.

I do not care about blade size, steel material or essentially anything else beyond my listed requirements.

Thanks guys and looking forward to hearing your suggestions!

Right, I know all about CRK one pieces, and RPW hollow handles. Nice knives, but I need them to be a little cheaper.

Microtech ADO is indeed quite nice, but the models that are in my price range seem to have that suspect steel. Same with that Boker. Id like to spend the money to get decent steel.

DPx Gear fixed blade knives made by LionSteel of Italy all have hollow handles, very well made and either Böhler-Uddeholm Sleipner tool steel or Lohmann Niolox stainless tool steel.

Are you talking about the section in the skeletonized handle, requiring the removal of one of the scales to get to? If so, it's probably best to state that that small space isn't going to have the same storage space as an actual hollow-handled knife.

Full disclosure: I'm not a fan of hollow handle knives for survival knives because I just don't think I could trust it. Also, I can't afford the hollow-handled knives which are made by some of the top shelf guys which I WOULD trust.

Yes and agreed. Thanks for the expansion.

Yessir, most welcome. I have a DPX HEST, and that's one of the things I considered a neat feature when researching the purchase. When I got the knife, I was somewhat disappointed to discover that there wasn't a whole lot I'd be able to do with that space. Of course, I did do what I could with it. Some waterproof matches, small bundle of kevlar thread, a few hooks, and some water purification tabs, and that's about it. So, I should say that it's not exactly worthless, but of course, we've all had a cheap hollow-handle "Rambo" knife from the flea market at some point in our lives, and there is a LOT of space in those handles!!

All I have in there are those windproof and waterproof matches.

Well the boker is 440c not great but not bad either, I'd prefer s35v or something along that line myself but your bumping your price range up then. I've got a Martin knife on order with s35v at the moment.

440C is definitely not 'suspect'. Its not the best steel for a large outdoor knife, true. Search the reviews forum, mistwalker did a great review of the Apparo IIRC
