So my brother's birthday is on friday and I'm looking to get him a fixed blade.. He is not a knife nut but does have a few, his favorite being the cheapest of the bunch a large Spyderco Byrd(go figure). So he likes a little bit of a larger blade.

He will be working on a boat(commercial Salmon fishing) in Alaska all summer so I'm looking for a knife thats both heavy-duty enough to be a workhorse but comfortable to edc.

Also, my knife fund is dwindling a little lately so cheaper(still quality) is better!
Thanks

Stainless Mora
Forschner boning knife
Dexter-Russell boning knife

Most of the above can be had for <$30....

I think they supply the working knives aboard the commercial fishing boats. So I'd suggest asking him if he could use or need a new knife for aboard ship. The Spyderco H1 knives are practically corrosion proof.

Don't waste any more money than you need to on someone that doesn't appreciate a good knife. Get a cheapo user, or if you think he'll appreciate it a Spyderco in H1 sounds what you are in search of

Yep the Spyderco H1 Aqua Salt is great, and different enough to be a unique gift.
