OK "Hog Nation" - Flex your knowledge base, and your personal preferences!

Looking for an EDC - 4.5" - 5" blade...something friggin' sharp for cuttin' (I love vexed edges), something stout for the tough semi-pry jobs,
with a good size grip, and nicely patterned micarta slab -

Only one I spotted so far is the BA TAC LE -

Suggestions would be VERY MUCH appreciated -

thanks gents...and ladies

SAR 5 all the way. If you can reprofile it, even better.
Many people dislike the handle but I wonder if they ever even used one for any length of time.
I find it very comfortable and usable. I did a minor mod to my handle but it was fine as is.
Its a lot of blade for its size, no waisted space on the talon hole or big racasso with a choil.

I had em but I'm in the group thats not allowed to complain cause they were so cheap;):D

I'd agree that the Pork Shank is great. I'm not sure exactly what the OP meant by the grip comment. The PS grip is full length but quite slim.

The HG-55 is also great. It would definitely be my favorite if it had a thinner blade.

I also really like the Scrapyard S5LE in INFI, but it lacks Micarta. I have more of these than I really need.

Those are my three most carried knives in that size range.

I would also vote Pork Shank if you are not against having a choiled blade. I would have one right now if the blade was choilless and 5.75" long, but I can only hope for something similar to this right now.

If it has to be choilless I'd say go a little bit larger and find a choilless Boss Jack CG.....;)

I vote SHBA. You aren't gonna find anything stronger than that old school beauty!!
I would say BAe as a secondary suggestions.
Both of these are beyond tough for any job you listed and the are both FFGs.

Jerry just announced that the Anniversary Mean Street is coming. Maybe that would be a good fit for what you are looking for.

I LOVE my pork shank. The grind also allows it to be one of my sharpest busses yet.

Pork Shank for the win.

Yeah Garth - I saw that just as I came to post this up. As with most anniversary blades, they usually come
an inch or so LONGER than the earlier models...which would put it right in my wheelhouse :D - we'll know in 48 hours!!!! BRING IT!!!

WORD CAME THROUGH...the Mean Streets are not gonna be any longer...sigh....still hunting - BA TAC LE leading the way at present (2/10)

An inch longer would make that Meaner even more perfect! This next 48 hours are going to be painfully long.

Does anyone know offhand how long was it between when the TGLB was posted last year and when the first batches started shipping?
