Hey guys, I was wondering if you could help me choose my second traditional folding knife. I am not really sure what to look for, but I do want a single bladed slip joint with either a wide blade or a clip point. This will be carried daily. My limit is about 50$. Thank you guys in advance!

A Buck 302 is just shy of 4". A single Clip blade. Should run you about $25.00

GEC Bull Nose sodbuster or #47 Hayn' Helper
Queen Country Cousin
Case Mini Copperlock
Case slimline trapper

Hrm...

I like having a good bit of belly (width at the front of the blade) and for this reason, I find most clip points don't work for me. Out by tip, I think, "Where's the blade?"

There are 2 clips that I like. The Opinel and the Buck 112.

The Opinel pictured here is the #8. The #7 (and 6) is smaller and may be more your preference for pocket carry. The #8 is just fine for *MY* pockets. They are also available in stainless.

The 112 is too thick and heavy for pocket carry. The Ecolite 112 work for pocket carry as it uses lighter scales and looses the brass bolsters. Sort of like Buck's answer to a locking sodbuster with a clip point blade.

Also, the GEC 72 has a mild clip, but that will go past your $50 budget.

The 112 is a great knife. And yes, it stinks for pocket carry...

...that's why they give you a sheath! :)

I agree. However, as much as I love the 112, it's bulk and weight put it in a "tweener" place for me. If I'm going to move to a belt holster carry, I'm just moving to something in the 110 range. I mean, why not?

I think pocket carry is the new belt carry. The Buck 500 is infinitely better for pocket carry than the 112 is, imo. This is due mostly from the thin profile. I would love to see Buck transition to a slimline 112. Until then, I think the light but still thick Ecolite is reasonable for pocket carry.
