What EDC folder would you recommend for a hunting camp caretaker? The knife would be carried all day and used for all kinds of tasks, cutting boxes, rope, straps, skinning deer in a pinch, maybe a coon or 2,

Price range 100-200.

I was thinking of a Cold Steel Lawman or Voyager spear point, yet am looking forward to your thoughts.

If it has to be to be a folder, I’d recommend a CS AD-10, it’s very durable, though not as much as a fixed blade. I’d recommend a fixed blade way more. Tops, Esee or Becker. If it has to be a folder, Cold Steel AD10 all day. I carry one and it’s a beast. Handles rope (poly) with ease and i had to chop small limbs a lot to make signs visible. Haven’t even had to sharpen it yet.

While I like a lot of the CS knives mentioned and own quite a few how about a Bradford small sheath knife. I don't currently own one but have always wanted one and think it would make a great skinner or small camp knife. If you prefer a big stout tough folder the 4Max Scout is tough as nails but somewhat heavy for a pocketknife. I have a few of those and purchased one for my son and son in-law. Good luck on your hunt there are just so many choices out there.

As said, fixed would probably be best. If it must be a folder then a Spyderco Stretch would be ideal (slim profile but still has a substantial handle and a blade with plenty of length and belly). An endura, PM2 or Para 3 would work as well.

I'm also a big fan of Cold Steel folders and think a Large Voyager would satisfy all of those needs, as would a Lawman.

If you want to go the traditional route, a Buck 112 or 110 would work. I'm not so keen on the bulky, original models, so I'd suggest one of the newer Slim Pro models.

As many knives as I've owned I feel like I should hate recommending the CS 4max scout but honestly if it has to be a folder and your likely not around a lot of people it has alot of good features and hand protection. Not to mention it's probably indestructible. Only con really is that it's under your minimum budget. I'm not sure if that's a deal breaker for you. The other part that irritates me about it is that it's polite in the pocket. Granted on my particular knife I've removed 97%of the texture on the scales and bent the pocket clip a bit. I also put a lanyard on it. I love it now.

Colt Steel's AD-10 would be a good choice for an all in one, hard use folder.

As the caretaker of a hunting camp, I'd want to have at the very least three different knives: a fixed blade skinner (Benchmade Hunt Crooked River or Buck Special 119), a decent hard use folder (Spyderco Police 4, Benchmade Griptilion, or Kershaw Blur), and a decent multi-tool (Leatherman Wave or Victorinox Spirit).
