Recommendation for fixed blade EDU

I'm looking for opinions on a good fixed blade for EDU belt carry. Trying to keep it at or under 7.5 overall with a blade length of 3 or larger. Would be very helpful if the stock sheath worked well with the knife and total cost under 150.00. The only things I've come up with are both from Tops - the Tom Brown Tracker Scout, and the UTE 2. Anybody have some other favorites or opinion on either of these two?

Thanks

What are your uses for this knife?

There are so many designs and type of knives out there that without a little more info on what you want the knife to do its going to be hard to give solid recommendations. Are you spending most of your time in the woods or in the city? Do you want it to be able to skin and prep food.... because neither of those TOPS would be ideal for that. Do you want more of a heavy duty type beater.... because the TOPS would be great for that.

I would say that in the world of EDC fixed blades are designed more purpose specific and folders are more designed to be used across the board........hmmm..... did I just make a broad generalization? That may have been wrong of me.

It's for general purpose use, mostly a beater, but I'd take it camping as well if it was suited. It would essentially replace my folding knifes for EDU - currently a Leatherman Extend or CS Recon 2010. I prefer a clip point, but realistically any pattern but a broad-bladed skinner will work fine. Overall size and quality of supplied sheath is important a consideration as any other.

I do like my Spyderco Moran for this purpose as well and with its realtively thin blade, it has a lot going for it. http://newgraham.com/store/product/787/Spyderco-Moran-Featherweight-SCFB01P/

The Izula might work for your purposes. There is also one with a regular handle: http://newgraham.com/store/product/5719/IZULA-Desert-Tan-RCIZULADT/

or this: http://newgraham.com/store/product/5184/RAT-3-Desert-Tan-Plain-Edge-RC-3P-DT/

The ESEE knives are very tough and are intended for hard use.

I tried carrying a fixed blade as an EDC along with a SAK and in my situation, I wasn't comfortable with the fixed blade visibility.

Ahhh, thanks for the recommendations. It's taking some adjustment to carry a fixed blade, right now I'm working with an old Buck 476 Diamondback. At 7 1/8" it's about the max I'd be willing to carry everyday. Just getting used to sheathing it seems to be the biggest issue, but I'm adapting. As far as the bulk etc, I used to EDC a handgun, so carrying a smaller fixed blade at 3 oclock inside the waistband is proving to be easier than I thought. The upper limit for length seems to be about 7 1/2" (I'm guessing based on how the Buck feels). Until NY gets this garbage straightened out regarding gravity knives, or I leave the state (I'm not leaving a good job with the current economy), I can take my chances or switch to a fixed blade. I've cut myself too many times on slip joints to even consider one.
