For the last two years or so, I've alternated between a ZT 0350 and a Case Peanut trying to narrow down aspects that I like more to help my buying. Now I am looking for something of an "in-between" knife to start carrying and I'm looking for that to be a Spyderco.
I don't want anything as big as the ZT so a blade around 3" is preferred but I also want a thinner blade profile like the Peanut has. Something that "slices" better per say. I looked at the Chaparral but some of the reviews indicate that the lockup on them seems to be excessively tight. I also looked at the PM2 but I think that blade is a little bit longer than what I am currently looking to go for.

Anyone have any ideas of the Spydy that would fit my needs??

Native5 or Caly3. Both knives have 3" blades, have great ergos and good slicers.
Caly is little lighter, slimmer profile, smooth CF scales laminated ZDP189 blade, tip up carry, riveted construction. Native5 is little heavier and feels a little better in my hand due to weight, peel-ply G10 scales, solid S35VN blade, 4-way carry, screwed construction. I prefer Native5 due to better feel in my hand, but both knives have outstanding ergos. For a little longer blade I would go with G10/VG10 Caly3.5.

If you like the looks of the chaparral you should go for it. I had the carbon fiber version and didn't find the lockup tight at all. Even if it is at first it will break in over time.

Another one to look at is the centofante 3. I haven't tried one but the blade is thin and narrow.

Take a look at the sage models as well. The blades are wide in profile and not especially thin, but with the full flat grind they are excellent slicers.

That "in between" area is quite big between a ZT and a Peanut! There are so many choices. If you want something thin, how about the Kiwi 4 when it comes out, the Caly 3.5 or maybe the Des Horn?

I'd say go for any one of the Sage models that suits you...or all of them! ;)

Haha yeah I know it is. To me they are basically the two extremes of what I will carry. A very small blade and what I deem a large blade (at least for what I enjoy having in my pocket).

The Sage looks about right for what I am looking for I believe.

Plus there's several variations to choose from! ;)

The Delica 4 FFG would be my recommendation. I love the shape, ergos and Spyderco's VG-10. I have a bunch of different super steels, and I always come back to VG-10.

The Delica would be perfect, but the handle isn't necessarily my style. I gotta say i like the price of them a lot better. ;)
