Recommendation On a BUCK Alaskan Vanguard?

I want one of these knives, but can't decide to get the rubber handle or the polished rosewood. The rubber handled model is ten dollars cheaper and most likely more comfortable to use, but the wood handle looks nicer and some people say it holds up better.

The reviews also say the sheath is fairly pedestrian.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Personally, I would take the wood handle. The rubber handle will afford a better grip when wet, but I'm a sucker for wood. Either way, it is an outstanding knife.

I handled both at Cabela's and bought the wood handle. The wood handle was more ergonomic and felt better in my hand. The rubber felt blocky, and much less hand shaped. The brass furniture was even less rounded and smoothed on the rubber handled one. You will like the feel of the wood handle model of this knife. Good luck on your search.
Dave.

The rubber seems a bit like Kraton, which some people say has issues over time. Besides, the wood looks much nicer. I have a couple of Buck Alaskan 110s and I really like those. Also, Cabela's has a FREE SHIPPING special on right now. No limits. It expires on the 20th. I wish I had a store nearby.

Thanks for the comments!
