Hello everyone, new to the forum and looking for some input on folders for everyday carry and use. I have specific knives for work, hunting, etc. this would be for front pocket carry day to day. I enjoy owning and using good quality tools, and buy things for the long haul or lifetime. Not a collector, so can spend a decent amount on ONE good knife.
What I am looking for at this time is something in the 3-3.5" blade range, probably leaning towards the 3.5" size because I have very large hands and want a handle that fits the hand with a secure grip. Blade must be of a good edge holding high quality steel, not overly thick or deep since this will be more for cutting and slicing than prying or other severe uses. Also prefer a more traditional style or drop point shape, maybe a tanto style if the rest worked out.
For handles I like Ti to keep weight down, or also enjoy the look of inlays, some G10, or possible Dymondwood. I like stuff that is "classy" for lack of a better word, something you can take out and use anywhere without any fuss. I don't mind some "tactical" leanings but nothing too extreme in that style.
In my limited searches some designs and styles that I like the looks of are, at the high end Chris Reeve Sebenza and Umnumzaan, and the Olamic Wayfairer. They are both at the top or above what I want to spend but if that is what it takes to get what I want and have a lifetime/heirloom tool it may be doable. Other stuff that caught my eye are the Benchmade Big Summit Lake, North Fork, 710, Nakamura, and Axis Flipper. Also checked out the TSF Beast, which is probably a bit large.
So, with that being said, anything else that should be on my radar? Would like to keep it with stuff that can be had fairly readily, no 5 year wait customs. Any input on any of the above mentioned stuff? I really like the clean design and look of the CR stuff, and it is my understanding they do hold some value long term?
Thanks in advance for any recommendations or input/advice, will be looking through the forum in the meantime.
