Hey guys,

I'm preparing for a camp trip with my brothers. I personally have my hardware in line, but one of them is looking to make a knife purchase. Now for his first knife, i recommended the plain edge Pup Elite but he seems to really like the Tech Bowie. Now i really like the Tech too.. but I'm not very sure about the construction for the type of uses I have intended. Light to moderate chopping and batoning etc....
So the question to my fellow SOGlodites is, can that blade take that type of use? He prefers that style versus say the SEAL 2000 and the Tigershard is too big.
TIA!!

Guard.....

Seriously as an all around kick butt knife, try the SEAL Revolver. I use mine each day on everything from branches to feed sacks, from the woods to the farm and into town. No Worries it is one of the best around. BobBee

I have a Satin Tech Bowie too. It feels great but offers less then the revolver. I never carry it anymore. Yet it is very good looking. The Tigershark is very nice as well. I love mine.

I have the SOG Bowie (S1) and don't consider it much of a "light chopper" ..... personal opinion of course. Not that it won't do the job if necessary, but something heavier is better for chopping. I've tried a bit of light chopping with my S1..... nosir, didn't like it. Hand shock galore

The Seal 2000 is a decent chopper, better than the S1.

The Tigershark is my favorite for chopping. Plenty of blade weight, I've powered through 4" limbs with no sweat and no hand shock, just like using an axe.

Cheers,

Carl

new pig hunter , are you going to marry your tigershark? coz it seems like it , heh heh.

I couldn't think of a better time to test out the new Super SOG Bowie. If your brother can wait until its available that is. Then you could tell us all how well it works on your camping trip. Just a suggestion.

i have the tech bowie in Satin...I ordered by mail and had no idea it would be even half as good as it is. I absolutely love that knife. I have heaps of more expensive knifes (mod, extrema ratio, tops, etc) but I totally rate this knife highly. The revolver looks good too though. I only wish SOG brought out the original pentagon fixed blade in aus 8 with both sides plain edge.

"gonna marry" ?? heck, already am !!!

Cheers,

Carl

p.s. the Super Bowie is the next one for my collection..... just not sure when.
