I'm looking for a box to keep my folders and smallish fixed blades in. Should be able to accommodate a 13" OAL blade, but have room to comfortably contain at least 10 folders and a few fixed blades.

What would you recommend? I'm looking at large Cigar boxes, but haven't found the right thing yet

I want something relatively flat like that, but with more storage space

What would you recommend?

Kinda like this, but bigger

Check out some of the tackle organizers, about the same size as a cigar box and if ya get the right ones, they slide into a Plano Tackle box.

Most of 'em are adjustablecustomizable anyway.

Machinist chest. Harbor Freight has a decent one. Not flat but holds a bunch of knives. That's what I use.

Looking for something a bit more ornate. Something that can be sitting on a shelf in my living room and not look out of place. My wife is complaining about all the knives sitting around, and hates the 3 drawer organizer that i keep them in in the living room. It's roomy, but it's a big ugly plastic thing

i kinda like this, but it's only 6x10... only 17 bucks though... man them Chinese makes stuff CHEAP

You might want to check out the Festool Sortainers. They have several drawer sizes which can fit in the cabinets in different positions. The cabinets can be stacked as the size of the collection increases, and a cart is available to roll everything around on. Each cabinet has a folding carry handle. Partitions and labels come with the drawers. The system is for stuff other than knives.

I keep mine in a cigar box. Actually, store them in a pistol magazine case, then insert the case into the cigar box. That way they don't get scratched up. Go to your local cigar store, they should have a wide assortment of empty cigar boxes for cheap. The wood is great too, absorbs moisture.

Not quite as big as you're wanting, but you can get Pelican cases in many different sizes.

If you were willing to sacrifice embellishment for functionality then I would recommend a Pelican case. It's portable, available in a large variety of sizes and colors, keeps your knives safe and clean, protects them from the elements, helps you organize them, prevents damage in storage, and most of them lock with a key as well.

How about getting something made, with a nice marquetry design on the lid?

I used to have a nice cabinet years ago. I ashamed to say that these days they're largely just scattered around the house.
