So I think my next knife will be a Strider folder as I've grown fairly fond of them. There is no way for me to get my hands on one around here so I will probably eventually do a quick catch and release just to get a feel for these knive. Overall though I've heard good things about them.
Back to the main point though!
I am looking for a recommendation on which one exactly.. I recently got a large Seb but it was just a little to big for my edc liking. I have a full sized griptilian and I love the size. My perfect edc so far is my Benchmade 942 but I'm looking for a more work horse that isn't huge.

Sorry for the rambling.. But thanks to anybody who took the time to read that an is willing to help out a newbie!

Edit: I just took a look at my Seb and grip and I was wrong about the size difference (shocker;) ) Must be the sheer awesomeness of a CRK that I just can't handle yet. ;)

Unless you have XL hands I'd suggest the sng. Also the SMF only has 1/8" more cutting edge...

IMO SMF is way too big.. and for the amount of cutting edge you get it isn't worth the extra size/wieght... unless your hands are the size of a gorilla ;)

PT is honestly an IDEAL EDC size... and for a guy who uses his blade alot at work cutting boxes down and rope/twine.. the PT didn't slack at all... However the SnG would also be great for EDC if you don't mind the extra bit of size .. however if the large sebenza 21 was too big for you... then the SnG prob. wouldn't be good for you either as it's about the same as the large 21...

Do yourself a favor and get yourself a small sebenza 21 ;)... if you don't like it... try a Strider PT LEGO version with the clip.. I dislike the CC version as they don't come with the clips... + the knife dosn't "lock in" to your hand as good as the LEGO version does... the CC is pretty slick.. esp. if your hands are wet!

I prefer the SnG. If you find a CC version, you cut a little mass and it will feel "smaller" than a LEGO.

I have an SMF Lego and an SnG DGG...I prefer the Sng for carry over the SMF...although the SMF does get the nod on occasion.

The SnG will be your best likely knife
The black is a SMF and the green a SnG

The SnG is your best bet. They are stout, well made knives and quickly became my EDC replacing my beloved left haned small Sebenza.

I own a used SnG CC and just bought a SnG Lego and I'd suggest a CC if you can find one for the right price. It carrys a little easier than the Lego. Not a ton better but a little better. If you can't find one, go with the Lego to get the feel of one.

Plus...on the off chance you hate it, you can always recover most of your money if not all.

Thanks for all the tips! I'll definitely keep all of this in mind when it comes time to get me one of these
Also, I appreciate all the welcome arms and advice as I become more and more sucked into the addiction. Everyone was new at this at one time and its nice to see people giving me advice and guiding me along. Thanks!

I will eventually, but I'm looking for more of a work knife. If I were to get a Sebenza I would def get inlays and it would be my gentleman's carry/knife. Until then I have my Bradley Alias II to hold me over.

Strider has different steels to choose from besides just S30V, which is a great stainless. PD#1 and Z wear, as well as 3V have had runs and are available on the secondary market. It's ( they are) a very tough steel which is descended from Vascowear. Much tougher than any stainless. If you like Stainless then the S110V is still available. A true "super steel" wear resistance wise and great all around combination of attributes. I'd look for a Z wear or PD #1 SNG if it was me. It's great for hard use stuff and coated to help with corrosion. Next would be S110V for sheer wear resistance, lastly I'd get a CPM 154, another well balanced steel but stainless. Only the PD#1 is full flat ground if I recall correctly. Others are hollow ground or variant of.

Good luck.

Sounds like the SnG will fit your needs best, I recently traded my SnG for an SMF (both in PD1 FFG) because the SnG just felt a little too small to me. I know the SMF is kind of a monster but I toss it in my back pocket and usually carry something tamer up front. Whatever you choose I'd recommend the FFG, the 3/4 grind just seems too chunky to slice well.

Good luck and have fun.
