so which one for a large edc

cold steel recon1
cold steel american lawman
sog aegis
or spyderco manix 2

what do you guys think tell me what you think and your personnel experiences with any of these

It depends on what you want you want to do with your knife. All four are very different. Sogs have aggravating blade play, but are light, fast and fun to play with. The two cold steel knives are slower, heavier workhorses. I can vouch for the sturdiness of the triad lock. I don't like the way the blades look after the black paint has been scraped off from use, so I prefer the stonewashed Voyager instead. My Japanese/American Spydercos are safe queens. I would rather drop, lose or wear out my Sogzilla, Cara cara, Voyager or Kershaw blems.;)

Spyderco for sure. Carries very well for a large folder, and has the better steel out of the rest you asked about (not saying AUS-8 is bad, but 154 is better).

In my opinion, SOG and CS are in the same tier as far as general quality, and materials, Spyderco is in the next tier up with benchmade, ZT, higher end Kershaws, etc.

yeah im leaning towards the manix 2 the sog aegis has to much play and to light and i also do not need the triad lock. the last reason is cpm s30v is amazing steel and spyderco's ball bearing lock is strong enough for more than what i need

The Manix has 154...not S30V. Still a great steel, though.

interesting in the catalog the manix 2 says that the blade steel is cpm s30v

Manix 2 comes in a lot of steels. The standard, non sprint run version is 154CM, but you can hunt down a lot of interesting alternatives. I like 154CM, though, holds an edge pretty well and is easier to deal with and cheaper than S30V. Also, some of the sprints have flat ground blades instead of hollow ground.

I'd just add to the others who recommended the Manix 2 out of those choices. It's the only one that combines high quality and functionality with decent customer service. It also has the nicest steel and is the only American made one of the bunch.

Aegis is the only one I have personal experience with, and I was a very big fan of SOG...now not so much...nothing to do with the Aegis though...it's ok knife.

I personally like Spyderco for pocket carry...just me though. CS Lawman has intrigued me but I'd need to handle it first and my local knife guy closed.

Another Vote For The Manix 2.
I've Owned Three And Loved Them All.
They Were Safe Queens But It's An Amazing Knife, Feels Great In The Pocket And Hand, And It Also Has Great Steel.
The Standard Manix 2 Has 154cm Blade Steel.
The New Manix 2 XL Has s30v Blade Steel.
Both Are Great. Also The Manix 2 XL Is FFG.

I've Owned A Few SOGs And I Liked The Trident But It Wasn't One That Blew Me Over.
The Knives By SOG That Really Had An Impression Were The Twitch Series. =]

Some Other Large Folders You May Want To Take A Look At Would Be:
Spyderco Endura 4
Spyderco Paramilitary 2
Spyderco Military
Spyderco Police 3
Benchmade Griptilian
Benchmade Large Bone Collector

All Wonderful And Great Knives. And All Have Good Blade Steel.

Also.. Maybe A Kershaw Rake Composite Blade Would Work For You - I Loved Mine.

Out of the ones you listed, I'd take the Manix 2. The Lawman is no slouch either, but I'm not as big a fan of it as I am of the M2.
