Recommendations for a First Mora

I want a simple, cost-effective fixed blade to store in the glovebox of my truck.

The Mora design seems to offer unprecedented value and performance, especially at its price point.

I'm looking at the carbon-bladed Morakniv with the half-guard. Is this a good decision for general utility chores and as a backup to my more expensive EDCs? Thanks for the help as I start my expedition into this new type of blade!

God bless you, America, and our men and women overseas.

Not sure what to recommend you, but make sure you check your state and local city laws on carrying weapons in a car.

The 740 Craftsman is a great carbon steel user!

This one had the blade soaked in vinegar to patina it, to prevent rust.

The only mora's I have are the wood handle ones. The tang goes all the way through the handle, and is anchored by a small retainer on the butt. I think its a bit more sturdy construction than the molded on plastic handles that have a faily short tang inside.

My laminated blade frosts takes a wicked edge and holds it better than alot of more expencive knives. I made a puuko style leather sheath around the plastic one, so it loks alot better.

Hey Guys..

If it hasn't been said before..
The M2K or the 780 triflex !!

Excellent knives..

however I don't think you can go wrong with any of them..

What the above said.

Ragweed Forge has a killer selection , great guy to boot.

I prefer the wood handled Mora's , I think they look better.

Also would not sweat having a sheeple friendly knife like a Mora in the glove box , just don't carve skulls in the handle to make it look tacticool. :D

I recommend a carbon clipper. It's a good looking mix of tradition (the blade) and innovation (the rubberized plastic handle). It's a functional knife. The only thing is that the OEM sheath sucks- it should be replaced with an On Scene Tactical offering, as I did with mine. The blade is a perfect utility length, and you get to choose the color you want it in- I personally chose OD Green (they make red, yellow, blue and OD green IIRC). One thing you need to watch out for, is that the clipper is also made in stainless- but it is very easy to tell which ones are stainless and which ones are carbon. IN addition to being marked, the stainles models are way more polished than the carbon models. And, the stainless model isn't too bad either- I have identical clippers in each:cool:

The carry of the knife in the glovebox is not a necessary legal consideration. Under local legislation, the Mora is perfectly legal carried on my belt, and is small enough to be considered legal to carry in my glovebox. The fact that I am a card-carrying member of the Boy Scouts of America and my great-uncle is the presiding judge of the county (great legal advice!) make me comfortable in believing I am perfectly legal in carrying such a knife.

I'll take a look around and let you know what I decide! Thanks for all the help.

I like the 510 myself and you can't go wrong with ragweedforge. great guy, great selection.
