Virtually any decent knife can hold up pretty well at 15°/side (30° inclusive) in normal and non-abusive cutting tasks (no prying, turning screws, etc). I don't even consider going any higher than 30° inclusive, and don't use or carry any knife until it's within that limit, or oftentimes even lower. If, for some reason, you find you want to widen it a bit afterward, a 20°/side microbevel applied to that 30° edge is an easy way to go about it, and you'll still keep most of the cutting advantages of the narrower cutting geometry behind that microbevel.
