Recommendations / Must Have Kershaws?

Hey all,

I have a Chill, a Skyline, and a Leek that I absolutely love. Both are ergonomic, great value, and can get sharp and stay that way for a reasonable amount of time. I was wondering if you guys have any recommendations on my next Kershaw knife. Are there any models that you guys consider must-haves? I'd ideally like to get a knife that is either fairly different from the Skyline/Chill thin-and-light design plan, or one that is close to it. I like the looks of the ZT 550/551/560 Hinderers--they seem solid and built for heavy duty, which is different from the Skyline/Chill design, and I like the way they look. Unfortunately, I'm a poor college student and I don't have that kind of money... Would that I could, but I don't see myself getting any of those any time soon. :(

Any suggestions on a next knife are welcome. Thanks!

You can get a One Ton, or a Compound, the Tremor. You can get either one of those from Kershawguy for around 25bux

My first Kershaw was a RAM. If you can get past the fact it's not the prettiest girl at the prom it is an excellent knife. Thin edge, good slicer, fits very well in the hand and is reasonably priced. I believe it was just discontinued so if you like it you might want to snap it up. The lock system on it I thought would be kind of gimmicky but it is rock solid. Actually I like it so much I just bought a back up with the black blade. I really love this knife.

Yep, I would have to say Blur as well. I also just picked up a Barrage (basically an all black Salvo) and am really liking it so far with it's thin, lightweight handle and rock-solid frame lock. I was also gifted a Scamp which has become one of my fave go-to beater knives along with my SE Spyderco Tenacious. For around $20-$25 you get a decent steel, frame lock and G-10 all in a very ergonomic and very pocketable format.

I second the Blur suggestion. Both my boys got Blurs for Christmass and they love them. I am looking at possibly getting an S30V model for myself one of these days.

Blur or Tremor. There's a reason the Blur is one of their flagship models and the Tremor is a very solid knife that's loads of fun.

Every Kershaw Knife Knut should own a Blur.

I like how they carry due to their slimness. Nice long pocket clip as well.

These.

A Blur S30V and 0200 are next on my list. If you get a leek, I would get the G10 S30V flavor because I had a regular one and it was too slick and delicate.

First get a Snap On 1840 Shallot with an Aluminum left-hand handle slab. Then get an 1840 Shallot with a CPM S-110-V and swap out the parts. Switch only the left-hand slabs and keep the right-hand slabs with the respective blades.

I did the same thing (& same mix) when I heard they were being discontinued. I put some Blackwood scales from Phillip Dobson on the black one and OMG!

I also got a Speedform II at the same time (heard they were being discontinued also) and it is now riding in my pocket. Nice design and get to check out Elmax at a great price. I think I'm going to have to get a Skyline, too - Kershaw has really been getting a lot of my business lately and hasn't disappointed me once.

Phillip does good work. He put some handles on a Spyderoi Mule for me. Really turned out nice. Might have to give him a buzz and see what he can come up with for one of these.

I just got my first 3 Kershaws,a Rake,a Needs Work and a smoked Leek.I must say that after almost 10 years EDC with my Emerson Commander, the Rake is the knife I grab every morning now.I think that's pretty strong. Also just traded for a ZT 0350 (waiting for arrival) I'm sure it will put up some tough competition for the spot in my pocket as well. But for me,getting the Rake really opened my eyes to Kershaw products and quality. Can't wait to get my ZT and love my Rake. The Commander is now semi-retired and I don't feel as I've lost anything supplanting it with the Rake.My next Kershaw will be the JYDII,I really like the composite blade theory and the speed safe flipper is the best thing to happen to knives since serrations. My 2 cents.

I have a bunch of ZTs, but only have two Kershaws. I really like the G10 Offset and the 1850 Tyrade.
