Hey guys. Was just deciding on another knife to buy. Never ended up buying that m16. Well are there any recommendations? I was thinking about the CRKT Mirage. What are your experiences with Zytel?

Anyway. Looking for a 3-5" blade with metal handles. Please no spydies. Not implying anything bad.

imho the best knife in that range is a CRKT crawford/kasper, either the zytel/or the pro version - for the $$ ya cant beat them - liked mine so much i got a real crawford custom kasper - for a little bit more ($67.50) ya can get a BM 800S AFCK old style from www.newgraham.com under retired BM knives - imho the very best knife ya can get for under $75, bar none - but if $50 is tops for your budget, get the kasper, ya wont regret it i promise.......not real crazy about the mirage, nothing wrong w/it, just not nutz about it.......

Several CRKT's come to mind, but I do have a zytel mirage large size, and it is a really good knife. I use mine for alot of "beater" work I don't want to bang up a more expensive knife with, and it has always done the job just fine.

If it's metal handles you want, get the Camillus EDC or the CRKT S2.

If you haven't looked at the Camillus/EDC you should. A good solid knife, well designed and I get more positive comments from non-knife people than any other production knife I carry.

Chris, i would suggest the Camillus EDC or the Outdoor Edge Paragee. They're rather small (3 inch blade) but are great. If you want something a little larger, check out the Kershaw Vapor II. It's a framelock folder with stainless steel handles and the blade is 3.5 inches long. For $30 U.S. at www.knifecenter.com it is definately a bargain.

The Kershaw above looks like a great deal, as of course is the CRKT Mirage, or Greyghost, and the previously mentioned EDC.

psst ... go to www.eknifeworks.com ... at last check, they had CRKT Mirages for $10, which would leave you $40 to get something else? Perhaps that pretty-looking Kershaw? Or something else? :-)

Zytel Outdoor Edge Kit Carson Magna.

Wow, this is so cool i'm buying one despite the fact that I already have a Kershaw Blackout and an Emerson CQC7B on the way.

That is one helluva knife.

I also recommend the EDC or Paragee.

I've owned two of them (one was destroyed, the other sold) and I really can't go without. The next M16 fro me will probably be an 03 in spearpoint. That false edge looks bomb.

For an under $50 folder I love the Gerber Harsey Air Ranger. It is now available with a 3.25 or 3.75" blade. Both can be had under $50 and the larger version comes with LAWKS!! It has Aluminum scales and is a very nicely made knife in that price range! For an aus8 knife this one is a real deal.

The EDC is an awesome folder too!:D

The EDC is very nice, and I think you'd be pretty satisfied with just about anything mentioned in the CRKT line. Good luck!!
