My first post in this forum. I have not used an axe since I was young...used to split a lot of wood for our cabin's Ben Franklin stove. I don't have a need to split wood anymore, but have a couple hatchets for car camping or bumming around in the woods.

I'd like to get a hawk or a small woods bumming axe. What say you guys? Thanks!

Gransfors Bruks if you're rich and like Swedish, Wetterlings if you're not so rich and like Swedish, Condor if you want to look Swedish-ish for a reasonable price, Council if you want traditional American American made for a reasonable price, Estwing if you like steel handles. Fiskars/Gerber for light weight with a space-man vibe. Anything from a garage sale that feels good to you.
Cold steel if you want a serviceable tomahawk cheap, Fort Turner or Wolf Creek for hand-made 'hawks. (Wolf Creek is swamped right now with the release of their first standard budget 'hawk.)
Just off the top of my head. You'll find other good suggestions if you look at other threads in this forum asking a similar question to yours. I'm a big fan of Council Tools myself.

Well said.

I like this a lot:

If you're looking for something a little bigger than your hatchets then have a look at Fiskars' X15 or X17. Both very useful weights and lengths.
