I am interested in learning how to design and create my own knives and have 24/7 access to a well equipped machine shop, but am not sure where to start as far as technique and materials and would appreciate any advice on what would be good books or videos to learn from.

If there is anyone in the Orlando area that makes custom knives, I can pay or trade web design services in exchange for lessons.

Thank you,

The Barney And Loveless book, "How to make Knives" is a classic.

Also, contact Allen Blade and order his videos- you can get a flat grinding, hollow grinding and kydex sheath making video for quite a low price.

You may want to check out your local college- where I am at I can take a knife making course twice a year. I haven't taken the classes as I am enrolled in the school of hard knocks, but once in a while I get a great instructor like Robert Dockrell.

Thanks. I ordered both books from Amazon.com
