Okay so it's time for a new EDC knife. So far I own two Spyderco Manix 2's, a Delica 4, a Benchmade 550 and 551, and a 910 Stryker. My requirements are higher grade steel (ATS-34, 154CM, S30V, VG-10), partially serrated, and preferably stonewash or satin finish. For handle materials I'm looking for G-10, Micarta, or FRN no carbon fiber or bare metal handles. I'm looking for something new. I'm looking for a good hard use folder and I like to rotate my EDC so I would like to get some ideas from people that own the knives. I don't really need it for self defense more likely utility.

Ive got a Spyderco Szabo that I waved that is phenominal. This is my edc rotation...

Spyderco Szabo waved.
Spyderco civilian waved.
BRS Replicant
Emerson Combat kbit
5.11 Kbit CUB waved....

I've actually been looking at either a CQC-7 or a CQC-14 Snubby. The snubby for when I go to visit family in other states to make sure I stay nice and legal.

Pick a spydie... and wave it! WAY more bang for your buck than an emerson.

If I bought a CQC-7 I would actually get the waveless or one of the original Benchmade production CQC's. I know it will ruffle feathers but I actually believe a knife should be your last defensive weapon in a fight. I'm looking for the hardest use EDC knife I can for under $150. Also I have had my eye on a waved Delica but I guess they don't make it partially serrated? Or if they did they are all long gone into collections.

I agree knives are last resort defense options. If youre doing straight utility, who needs a wave?

If you carry a gun for defense, its only wise to have a back up weapon, and a knife fits this role great. And a wave just makes it better in this aspect.

Straight utility, have you considered the spyderco gayle bradley? Hell of a knife.... it is probably my favorite utility knife.

Kizer is a hell of a good bargain too.

I've never even handled a Kizer and have yet to step into framelock territory yet but might have to go paw one at my local store. Thanks for the Gayle Bradley recommendation though it looks kind of like a higher end Spyderco Stretch. On the weapons topic I have a gun on me 23/7, the one hour is a shower and switching from personal carry to work gun.

Framelocks are probably my favorite lock system. Simple. Beautiful. Effective.

On a side note. If you carry a gun for defense, i implore you to explore a knife as a backup weapon. With my emerson karambit, I put the pocket clip on left hand side, put it in right pocket, that way I can wave forwards. This has several advantages.

With a karambit, the finger ring is sticking out of pocket, so you stick your finger in the ring and rip it forwards. You virtually cannot drop it upon deployment, and its FAST....

My average time it takes to draw my weapon and fire is about 1.3 seconds. You can draw a waved folding karambit faster than your eyes can even comprehend. food for thought!

That's really the only reason I've been looking at the waved CQC-14 is for when I'm in really bad areas. I've taken some self defense classes in Kali, Krav Maga, and self defense from a retired LEO and martial arts instructor and the only thing I can tell you after that training is unless there withing 30 feet it's gonna be two to the chest one to the head. I am neither skilled enough nor confidant enough to try and go toe to toe with anybody. Plus getting stabbed seems like it would really suck from what I've heard.:(
