Recommended Sheath Makers For FSH

Hey guys,

I'm sure this has been covered at some point and I know there are a lot of sheath makers here, but I wanted some opinions on if anybody had anyone in particular they would recommend to make a sheath for my FSH. It's from Blade '09 if that makes a difference, but it should just be a standard FSH with canvas micarta grip.

Ideally, I do not want to send the blade out, so I am hoping to find somebody who has a FSH around already to make a sheath to, or who understands it enough to do it without having my blade in hand. I don't like the idea of shipping it out, but we'll see if I can get away with not doing that.

It's a satin blade so I probably would be looking at something that won't scratch it. Is kydex out of the question then?

Any opinions would be welcome. Thanks a lot.

Those particular FSH's there were a bunch of variations.

Standard & magnum scales
machined and smooth scales
the thickness of the blade varied from the first ones to the later ones, I have one of the first ones and it is thinner than any other I have come across.
there where fattys 3/8"
L.E.'s where thicker than the standard ones
also the coated vs satin where different thicknesses

If you are concerned about scratches or Marring the surface and want it to stay shiny and new, a knife bag would be the best choice I recommend Bill's brand custom knife cases.

This has been said many times by several people, Kydex will not "scratch" your knife.
What you get embedded in the plastic, leather or nylon is what "Scratches" the finish.

I for one do not have your particular knife in house, so I would need it sent in.
As would most guys, because of the above stated reasons.

The leather guys of which there are several great guys here would probably be able to help with out having the knife as they may have a pattern from the old days.
search them out.

I hope this helps

All the different variations would make it more difficult to do without the knife in hand. If kydex is something you decide would work for you then the gentleman posting prior to me would be a great choice.

Hey guys,

Thanks a lot for the info! Looks like I'll need to send her off. Time to decide what direction to go!

Thanks,

Fastest turn around time would be J&G. That's if you did not want to be with out your blade for longer than two weeks.

My FSH is wearing Chuddybear Leather. While the turnaround is slow, the sheath is topnotch and every bit as bomb proof as the knife.

In regard to scratching the blade, my personal philosophy is that if your knife is going to be used, who cares about a couple of surface hairline scratches. If the blade is a safe queen, you don't really need a sheath, you need something to protect it, like the padded zipper bags Dave mentioned.

Yea if you want spotless pristine, sock & safe. If you want a knife go with Leather sheath, if you want a user go Kydex, beat the crap out of it and enjoy!!! Sorry a little to much Knob Creek and coke :D, but like they say a drunk speaks a sober mans mind.

Been looking at TIE (Tactical Innovations Engineering) and will be sending one of my knives to him. Heard a lot of good things about his work.

leatherman has a pretty good inventory of Busse blades, so he may have one that matches yours in thickness. Dwayne has been doing leather for Busses for a long time, many happy customers.

J&G is awesome very fast responses and works with you to get what you want!! And he does the hybrid kydex and leather sheaths. Awesome guy to deal with!

But there are so many guys that do awesome jobs on here hard to recommend just one

David is too nice of a guy to say but I got a quote from him a week or two ago and his current turn around is also 2 weeks..
