Recommended sources for leather working supplies

I live on the border between Texas and Louisiana. I'm looking for some reliable sources of frugal handsewing tools, thread, hides etc for making knife sheaths and holsters. I understand Midcontinent Leather supply closed up doors? For shipping purposes I'd like some suggestions for places closer to the south-central U.S. area.

Is there an Evil Empire (Tandy) store near you? They have everything you need. Their quality to price is a bit skewed in my opinion, but everything I have from them works.

Other than that, I'd do a search with your location in mind. I'm not familiar with your location, but there's gotta be something within an hour or two drive.
