? Recon 1 and fingers

Hi folks,

I have a question. I have a Mini Recon 1 and have used the American Lawman. The design of these knives is such that if the lock fails the sharpened part of the blade will not connect with your fingers.
The question is, is this true of the regular Recon 1?

I shut my Recon one one handed by disengaging the lock and flicking downward , the blade hits my index finger but doesn't cut, you don't have to worry about it failing , it's a tri ad lock.

Is it the flat tang behind the sharpened edge that hits your finger, or the sharpened edge itself?

On the two knives I mentioned above the flat tang hits your finger and not the sharpened edge.
