Recon 1 grind

Another recon thread, sorry.

I’ve been patiently waiting (more or less) for an XHP recon 1 spear in black with the new grind. Recently there have been a few pics on the auction site that seem to show just that, but with the astonishing number of fakes out there I have to wonder if what I’m seeing is legit.

Can anyone verify that these are truly available? I would appreciate if a recent buyer, the CS mod or a dealer can weigh in...

Thanks

What’s the “new” grind? It was changed mid last year.

Sorry, I was referring to the newer flat (more like saber really) grind, where the edge goes completely to the choil. The green and flat dark earth handled models changed over sometime last year as you said, but all the black handle models seem to still show the old style wherever I look.

Since most dealers use stock photos it’s not the best idea to use that if you’re looking for something particular. Probably the best way to get what you want is to email or call the dealer and ask first.

I have one of the newer version and it’s quite nice.

It just seemed odd that more than one web store would bother to update the pics for the OD and FDE, but not the black? Makes me think the black is still old style. But you’re right, contacting them directly would be best.

I would also call. I have a Recon that was ordered a few weeks ago that has the new grind and a serrated Recon I received this week is the old hollow grind.

Pics won’t matter IMO as they are generally stock as per above.

BTW, I don’t really have a strong preference.

I did send an email, so we’ll see what they say. I just hope they understand me, it was harder to phrase the question clearly than I thought it would be lol.

Good luck with that on the auction site. Sellers there are notorious for providing minimal customer service. I've asked that same question before and received the response - "I don't know, the knives are in the warehouse."
Of course they don't provide a phone number and if you need to return a knife it can be a hassle and will likely include a restocking fee.
You'd have better luck going through BladeHQ, GPKnives or Knifecenter, even if it costs you a bit more.

Oh I sent my email to a reputable dealer, not an auction site seller. A couple extra dollars for piece of mind is worth it, as you say.
