i did some jimping on my recon 1. grip stability and blade control is now way better.

I used a 20 lines per inch checkering file.something like this. I clamped the knife in a vise and did it with slow strokes.

thaks for the info,,I have several knives I would like to do that way,,will search for one of those files

they're available at brownell's. I suggest you practice first on a piece of PVC or aluminum so that you can get your strokes down pat.

I just picked up a checkering file today. I think I'll make some type of jig. Definitely gonna need some practice, as Singularity35 noted. Now I can add some jimping to my CS American Lawman. :thumbup:

I checked out "thread chasers". I'm not entirely sure they're the same as a checkering file.
