I wonder what's the most iconic blade shape of the Recon 1? I love the clip point looks but it's too wide in the pocket. I see a lot of tanto blades illustrated all over the Internet. So which one is more popular, was there an original blade shape this model was designed with?

Kinda felt bad nobody replied to you haha, figured i'd post. Iconic is probably the clip, as it's visual relation to the buck 110 which is also a clip and is no doubt one of the most iconic knives ever. I like and own them all, i wasn't a huge fan of tanto's but i've really started coming around to them, especially in the recon and voyager.

Uh, I dunno,
Both the tanto, clip and I think a spear point
came out as a series within the same year

But back in the day
It would have been
Hard not to notice
Just how popular the tanto blade was in general.
It would have been unthinkable
To ignore new tanto models as they came out
Especially when it invoved cold steel martial knife fans.
Utilities aside, it was pretty dramatic
To see the first CS folders with an "axis type lock".
Never mind that it had the slickest of handle scales
and wasn't the most ergonomic;
Or that it didn't ride low in the waistband...
it was however, an entirely new cold steel product experience
being offered back then.
But that's just my opinion.

I'd say that the tanto blade is the most emblematic of the Cold Steel brand.

The Clip and Tanto came out first.

The Spear was first shown in the 2012 catalog, along with the (now discontinued) mini Recon 1s.
