Recon 1 rolling changes?

While perusing a big outdoor store chain I noticed they started carrying Recon 1 knives.I've been considering getting one so here was my chance to get a hands on with one.I've had questions about the clip and the grippy G-10 being too tight.I slid it in my pocket and out a couple times and while snug it went in and out easier than my Voyager.I also noticed the lock release felt lighter than my Voyager.Less friction due to the DLC?I dunno after all the postings about these issues maybe the are making rolling changes in production.Maybe the Mod could chime in with an answer.I was pleasantly surprised.Nice knife.

The Recon 1 in general will go in and out of the pocket easier than the Voyager in my experience.

Cold Steel is really beginning to refine their triads. They are much smoother as of late, than previous generations.

Oh that explains it. I read many complaints how hard to open the triads are. None of mine is. I press the lock and the blade swings down freely. Could even close it one handed. That mine are very recent models might explain that.
Way to go CS :-)

if you look at the new 2015 models and compare them to the same pre-2015 models, you will notice that most of the pin that holds the lockbar in place(where the lockbar rotates on) has been moved forward towards the blade. I.e. the lockbar pin/fulcrum is now further away from the lock cutout. This basically makes the lock easier to actuate.
I think most of the new Carpenter steel models has this. For the ones i own, i notice it on Lawman, Recon 1, Talwar, Rajah 3, code 4 & hold out.

My last two Cold Steel knives (Recon 1 and Code 4) had smooth triad locks out of the box. They have even smoothed out more with use. I had to slightly bend the pocket clips which is not a big deal.

Cold Steel does a lot of things right. One of them, is that they do not rest on their laurels. They are always introducing new models, and refining their existing line.

Doing that, while having the most extensive line of products in the industry (Fixed blades, folders, machetes, axes/hatchets, etc) is impressive, no doubt.

From their sub $30 GI Tanto and Bushman models, To Hattori made Bowies in San Mai III, and ultra tough, give Busse a run for their money DLC coated 3V blades and everything in between, they have knives for every niche, and task.

And the same rings true in their folders. Lynn Thompson may offend the sensibilities of some, but no one pushes the envelope the way he does.

Oh boy, when I hear about people boycotting CS for this reason. Boyoboyoboy...

"I really like that knife, but I hear the owner is a big NRA guy who hunts leopards in Africa with a .357 Magnum revolver... pass."

Who else but one mentioned above would make a meme like this?: http://orig06.deviantart.net/a387/f...er_dead_hippo_by_backyard_samurai-d9empy1.jpg

Sure you don't like his views or his hobby, but no need to deprive yourself of a fine product you're interested in, because of it.

Another words, you go on your hunger strike, and I will enjoy this thick juicy bison burger.

Scenario over.

To the topic, my own Recon 1 and Code 4 are butter, but I will say that the AK47 Triad is the most stubborn of them all! Took me 2 weeks on/off of mere manual manipulation (straight opening and closing, nothing fancy. Only took a day and a half for my Recon, and the Code 4 was GTG from the box) to get it broken in so I could gift it to a friend.
