Could you give us a good full history on the Recon Bowie design? It is so sweeping a grind and the brass just gleams. A most beautiful knife design. Did Mr. Frazier add any flairs to this blade design?
I have been told that SOG blades were made from softer materials. Is this true and why if so? I have used a SOG for years and have enjoyed its design. Only now have I begun to research it more deeply.
Thanks and good day, Bob:)

Mike Silvey had a real-deal genuine Recon Bowie, and there's just nothing better.... well, to me anyway. I could stare at it for hours.

Then there's the SOG Recon Bowie..... oh yeh, one the sexiest and slinkiest blade profiles..... one of the best.
It is SK-5 carbon steel and I like SK-5, good stuff.

Last summer I bought, from a fellow Forumite, a SOG Recon Bowie he had owned for 3 years but never used, only stared at. And you wanna know something I still don't believe: when I received it, the edge was still hair-popping sharp !! He had never sharpened it and whatever "sharp" the SOG folks put on it was still there, 3 years later. I couldn't believe it then, and when I take it out of the sheath: it still cuts arm hair, no problem.

Cheers,

Carl

The Recon Bowie does have a sleek profile!
What I REALLY like to get, is one of the Scuba/DEMOs made of SK5. SOG gave one away at one point... and I didn't win!!!:(

I got to handle a Damascus Scuba/Demo last summer. Is a thing of Beauty. If I'd only had $750 at the time, it would have been mine. :D
