Ordered Recon Bowie with Serial number 006 today , should be with me by the Weekend.
I'll let you know my impressions in due course.
Paul.

Hi Paul,

Congratulation! Number "006" Huh? Where did you get that one? The knife is beautiful. The number is etched on the end of the buttcap.

Hi Ron,
Knife was ordered from Heinnie Haynes, a UK dealer based in Cardiff. He said it was a choice of Ser No's 150 or 006, I went for the latter. Suppose it could be 900 ?? But hey who cares , it's the blade that counts. It should be here soon!!
Trying to stay calm,
Paul.

SOG Recon Bowie arrived last night and it is one beatiful blade.
The grind lines match a couple of the oiginal's pictured in the Michael Silvey's
book and the overall fit and finish is excellent, the picture Ron put up does not lie , it really does look that good in the metal. The knife has a really solid feel to it with the balance point on your index finger right behind the guard. It feels right!
The sheath is also similar to one in 'The Book', if I were to be picky I personally would have liked a stone pocket on the sheath (as some original's had too) but the lack of it does not detract in any way.
The one I have one is marked 006 on the butt cap and the SOG company logo on the blade (as can be seen on Ron's picture).
Am I happy? You bet ! Thanks to SOG for producing the Recon Bowie.
( Now I wonder how long we will have to wait for the Scuba /Demo ? ) Paul.
