I meant to respond to this easrlier, sorry I forgot. I have one of the earlier 8A mods that I have used constantly for over a year. I don't so much mind that I has a heavy blade as that is what makes it easy to open. Holding the knife butt up with a snap of the wrist in the downward motion and the blade is in play. It has cut boxes, twine, tape, tie wraps, fish heads, bait, pungee sticks and has been opened in the afore mentioned manner since the day I got it. It is still as solid as the day I got it. I did snap the clip off when some office movers side swipped me with a filing cabinet, so now when I carry it, it goes in with the wallet and rides there unassumingly until I need it.
I have gotten many comments about it's size, so yes, it is a big folder. But that is why I bought it. I gave my full sized AFCK to a friends brother who joined the police force so I needed another big folder to replace it. I have not been dissapointed.
If you can find one of the older ones in good shape, get it. I have not tried or handled one of the newer one's in their new 420HC configuration so I do not know how it compares.
Hope this helps.
