Any San Mai III in either model to round out that collection?I have them both and love them both. It's a tough choice. The two inch difference is minimal and is only really seen in chopping. The coating is the biggest difference. I could never choose so I have 5 of each.![]()

I do have the TM and RS both in SMIII models. I know, I have issues.![]()

Only have the TM, want to try the RS. Not sure what I'd use it for though. They're a bit thick to do any real cutting, and also a bit thick to baton well. And heck, my TM will chop, but the handle will *eat* your hand without gloves. Still one of my favorite knives, if a bit impractical. Which is probably why I haven't got a RS yet.
Trailmaster!
You said yourself in another thread, You don't like batonning big stuff so the RS would more accommodating because it has less length, and is lighter and more compact because of it. At the same token the knife you spoke of before was the Leatherneck, which is similar to the RS minus some thickness. So if you're going to pick one, you might as well go with something new that is more capable when you need to have it so.
I have one in SK-5. Trail Master, that is.
