Recon Scout sheath - update - Secure-Ex won't fit older models

Just so you are aware, per CS customer service:




The current Secure-Ex sheath will not fit the old Carbon V Recon Scout models. We apologize for any inconvenience.




I'm glad to find out - saved some trouble.

It does fit the SK5 model. Sorry I was thinking Trailmaster not Recon Scout.

I have a Carbon V model on the way. Emailed customer service to be sure that If I bought a new sheath that it would fit.

I don't know what dimensions changed between the original models and the SK5 ?

Looks like I am headed toward a custom made sheath....

You should not expect any of the Secure-Ex sheaths made for the current models to fit the old Carbon V models of any of the fixed blades. Different suppliers = different tooling = enough dimensional difference to change the fit of thermoplastic sheaths.

Thanks Mike for the clarification.

I have not tried either of them personally, I just contacted Cold Steel customer service to do some fact finding before I placed an order.

The knife I purchased did not come with a sheath.

Maybe I should have said fit correctly or fit properly.

This is my Cold Steel Carbon V Recon Scout with spyderco G-clip.....It fits better with no rattle once I took off the webbing retainer from factory....
It draws easier also and retains fine....
I cannot say which models of the rc came with the securex sheath I can only say that mine came with it and it works perfect for what it is....
It isn't as comfortable as my TM's with the southern comfort sheath but it does work ..

I need to have the blade coating done, but then I will be looking at sheaths.
