Recon Scout Tang

I was looking online at pictures of knives with their handles removed and found several of the Recon Scout. Some of the Recon Scouts that I saw had squared blade/tang junctions, whereas others had blade/tang junctions that were radiused. Did Cold Steel start manufacturing Recon Scouts with radiused blade/tang junctions? I ask because the pictures that I saw of the radiused versions were all newer knives; however, I couldn't determine if they came from the manufacturer that way, or if they were modified after the fact.

I'm thinking of buying a Recon Scout, and a squared blade/tang junction is not a deal-breaker for me; however, now my curiosity is up.

Thanks for getting in touch.
I'm not sure about this, but I will endeavor to find out for you.
Watch this space :)

This is good to know. Not a whole lot of these knives broke at the tang in their original configuration, but I do recall a couple. Even so, radiusing the tang/shoulder transitions on the TM and RS seemed like a no-brainer to me, and I've long wished they'd start doing it.

That is good news. Are the new Trailmasters radiused as well?

I believe they are, but hopefully CS will stop by and give us the authoritative answer.

I think Cold Steel should consider highlighting the radiused blade/tang junction in their promotion of these knives. It seems to be important to a lot of people and definitely scores points for the knives.

Agreed.
