I, like many, was intrigued by CS's marketing year ago and always wanted one of their cool tantos in San Mai. I picked one a few years back, the Recon Tanto in San Mai steel. It seems like these are not make anymore in this steel and hard to find. I haven't used it, and was wondering if I should leave it in new condition for possible value appreciation in the future? Thanks for any input, these are great knives!

if you have a Seki made Sanmai Recon Tanto save it. Back in 2006, SOG who had been selling knives made in Seki Japan since 1986 switched to Taiwan for cost reasons. They kept the same models but the market reaction was poor. SOG never recovered from that. This is a risk that CS is taking now. Guess we'll see.

It is indeed the Seki-Japan model. Thanks for the info! I'll probably save it from use, as i really don't have anything purposeful intended for it anyway. It is very cool though, and certainly the sharpest knife I've ever owned
