Recon Tiger Makhaira in CPM 3V

Hare are some pics of a blade that went out last week. This Recon Tiger was a touch longer than most with a 12-1/4" blade edge and 18-1/2" overall. This is from super tough CPM 3V with high flat grinds and flat ground swedge. It has a Paul Bos heat treat to 58+/- Rockwell. I really like the CPM 3V, yes it is a bitch to grind but it holds an edge well and in not a bear to resharpen. Also, it will hardly take a scratch even with heavy chopping.

This one has black linen Micarta handle with palm swell, gray liners, three flared stainless steel tubes, one stainless corby bolt and two peened pins at the guard.

Thanks for checking it out!!!

Here is the sheath with four straps for vertical or horizontal molle or tactical vest set up.

Sorry, I tried something new...they show on my computer but no one elses apparently. Fixed now hopefully.

Best,

this handle design looks much more effective, and the blade profile as well. I'd still like to see a kick at the butt of the handle, but this knife still kicks butt.
Nice work Eric. VERY much looking forward to the next iteration!

Thanks Guys!! Yes this is a better handle and the next ones on my bench are even better still (IMO)...a but kick is always an option with me as I make custom blades, so every one is its own incarnation and I have yet to repeat my self except in the case of multiple piece orders. I think it is part of the fun to make each one slightly different.

Very cool. That 3V is something else isn't it? Ask Dan Keffler sometime about all the abuse he put his 3V sword blades through.
