So we all know that practically no blade, new or old comes to us really ready to use. Chances are if it's a new blade from the maker or manufacturer there will be machining marks that have to be gotten rid of and an old blade will always be corroded to one degree or another so the first order of business is to get the blade ready for subsequent sharpening. I am just getting this old axe to the point that it can take a decent edge. So far about six hours grinding out the back-side and evening out the edge profile and it's about half way there.
