Recondo Sheath + SOG's Recent Customer Service

This post is about 2 different subjects that are intertwined.

First... I need a sheath for a SOG Recondo. I purchased a TiNi Recondo at a gun & knife show. The dealer, apparently, used to own a "brick and mortar" knife shop. He had this Recondo that he claimed was left over after his shop closed. Unfortunately, he did not have the original sheath. I have searched eBay for months looking for a sheath. Does anyone know of where I might could acquire one? I tried calling SOG customer service as I know they used to sell replacement sheaths for older models... but that didn't turn out too well (story in the second part of this post). I know that SOG representatives occasionally visit these posts. Can anyone help?

I originally sent an email to SOG customer service using the method on the website. I waited around 3 weeks after the email with no response. I emailed them a second time. This time, I waited approximately a month with no response. I then called the customer service number. When the operator answered, the lady tried to connect me with the appropriate person. I sat on "hold" for over 30 minutes before I hung up. About a week later, I called again. This time I told the lady that answered about the emails and previous phone call. So... she said that she would take care of my request personally. After explaining what I was looking for, she said that she was almost certain that they had the sheath. She placed me on hold. About 5 minutes later, she came back and said that the person that would know where the sheaths were located was at lunch. She took down all of my info (includind both home and mobile phone numbers plus my email address). She repeated everything back to me to insure she had is correct. I never heard anything else. What has happened to SOG customer service. I have dealt with them several times in the past and NEVER had any problems.
 
If I recall the Recondo came with a Kydex sheath right? Unfortunately I suspect that your only
choices may be to try and speak to SOG to see if they still have one, or get one of the kydex
sheath makers to make you one.
As for SOG's customer service, if whoever you are talking to can help you out themselves, or order something they will do it for you. BUT, if they need to ask someone else who is "not there at the moment" you can forget it. I've left my name, number. email etc and despite being told they'll get back to me, never heard from them. I think some of those people have the attention span of a squirrel. Only solution is to keep trying.
 
Honestly, good luck to you. There is no way in hell that you are getting that sheath for it is over a decade since they discontinued that knife. The recondo came in a kydex sheath and the knife is getting more rare to find. I've had nothing but good service through SOGs customer service over the years, but that's me. Chris used to chime in on BF all the time from what I've read, but after SOG was under fire from this community, he hasn't been back since. I'm sure he lurks every now and then. Try sending him a private message and see if he responds.


Keep in mind you have an extremely special request and if they have to ask so and so, and also so and so about it, then you're pretty much s.o.l.. Also, SOG is extremely involved in their social media, so send them a pm on FB. From what I've see , they usually respond faster.

Keep us posted. You have 10 posts since 2010, so hopefully you will and not come on here to rant and leave for another 4 months without saying anything.

I apologize if my post seemed like a "rant" to you. I appreciate your suggestions and will definitely try them. However, your negativity doesn't make someone like me really want to have more than "10 posts since 2010". Is this your playground and nobody else is welcome? If so, I apologize for intruding. It's funny to me that you consider others to be a "problem", when your posts seem to always have a negative feeling (yeah... you aren't the only one that can do research). It's also ironic that I tout SOG as being a leader in innovation with products like the Recondo. So much so that I have spent nearly a grand over the years collecting Recondos. But, to you, I am somehow "ranting" against SOG and putting them down. I suppose there really is a reason I only have 10 posts in 4 years. I guess I just don't have the mindset to communicate on a forum.
