I was advised to try my post here. Basically looking for feedback on the Recondo. Yes, I have seen the review with the shattered blade but I also know SOG didn't start making knives yesterday. Can one of you folks help me out? It is for IWB concealed carry and I have a Niramvus by BM but thought something with more of a dagger tip would be better. Thanks, Ed

and am partial to SOG in fixed blade and BM in folders. I was hoping for some shread of information that I could expand widely enough to provide me a good excuse to buy the Recondo. Oh, wait! The wind just blew, that's reason enough to buy it!!! Seriously, please tell me that shattered blade review was somehow flawed. With the reasonable (in price) sheath job Scott Hendryx does and since I already own a Pentagon, I just might buy the Recondo and have IWB sheaths made for both. Was hoping you'd reply, someone said you were on vacation. Let me hear from you. Thanks, Ed

Hi Ed,

OK...no brief answer here for you. Here we go.
  • Very attractive & agressive design
  • A very thick blade all the way down to the tip
  • A very secure, grippy handle
  • BG-42 Steel. It will keep cutting and cutting and cutting (just like the Energizer Bunny).
  • It has outstanding "indexing" qualities.
  • It pierces very well.
  • Sergiusz Mitin did a great review here. I think the pictures are down.
  • Here's a letter from a very satisfied US Army Ranger.
  • The handle slabs can be removed for custom applications.
Is the better? Sorry my last response was brief. Chalk that up to working almost 30 hour in two day and staying up almost all night helping my wife finish her master's thesis.

If you need anything else, please feel free to ask.

Where can I find the review with the shattered blade? Shattering a SOG knife would be really hard. I'll bet it was abused quite a bit.

Dear Ron: Count me as a conntinued satisfied customer. Your nine points were informative and the Recondo is going to join my Seals, Tech and Pentagon. Have a nice and well deserved vacation and for heaven's sake don't "cut" it short (sorry, I couldn't resist). Ed

Dang! In my humble opinion, that's a lot of abuse.

The more I check out the Recondo, the more I want it. I think I need a better job because you guys keep coming out with great knives.

I really like mine! A friend tried to "borrow" it for his boat. He likes the feel, as well as the partial serrations, to allow quick rope cutting, when necessary. I am keeping it!!!
Eventually I will actually make the cocobolo handles, I already have the wood...
Get one, it's just plain cool!!! :D
