I've been out for a while but it seems I'm back in the mix! I've been on the hunt for fixed blades in the 4" to 8" blade range and to my dismay have seen many a very nice design ruined by a recurve blade or uber-thick steel. What ever happened to a nice clip point straight edge of 3/16" thick steel?? hell for that matter how many high end blades are there out there in this range? So am I alone on this or are there more of you out there?

there are plenty like what you describe. the first two that come to mind is falkniven, and benchmade. what you describe is actually one of the core "everybody has one" type blades (company wise).

anza, hattori, and bark river knife and tool have some nice ones as well.

pretty much every company has at least one drop or clip point fixed blade thats 3/16" thick with a straight edge.
