Here's the latest project—just delivered to a happy customer in NYC—with cocobolo scales, 416 ss bolsters, mosaic pins, filework on the tang, and ATS-34 mirror finished and hardened to a 59-60. The sheath has a wraparound welt and is carved and tooled.

Let me know what you guys think, and thanks for looking.

Perfect all the way ... Colors, shapes are beautifully selected and achieved. I'm sure he is very very happy ...

That knife is one of the most beautful one's I've ever seen. it screems functionality to me. the filework rocks, the polish is awesome, I'm impressified.

Nice job...great file work on the spine. I like that cocobolo look....its classic. You also did great on the recurve. Someone in NYC is a happy camper. :)

Nice!! WHERE did you get that cocobolo?!?!?! I want some!!!:D

Beautiful. It has sort of a South American look to it. The knife and sheath really compliment each other.

I love it all! It seems you have learned a little from Chris at Treestump leather. Keep it up! :)

Hey, thanks for all the kind words! That cocobolo came from the Blade Show in Atlanta—I got a whole plank of it, believe it or not—and it's covered with eyes and colors like that. It was a great find. And yes, Chris at Treestump has been a major influence of my leatherwork. At one point this summer, I helped him make a few hundred of his ready-made sheaths, and so the Treestump decorative pattern is kinda burned into my brain/hands. It seemed appropriate for this particular sheath, and I don't feel too bad about complimenting Chris by using it with some slight tweaks—upside down stamps from his pattern, no 'burst' in the corner, tooling follows stitching around the tip of the sheath. There's certainly no question of his influence; and he does make great sheaths.
