Recurved Elmax with Circassia Walnut

Hello friends, let me to show to You one recently finished piece.
Blade is made by PM Elmax steel, hardened and tempered in vacuum furnance to 61HRc. Handle is made by cute piece of stabilized Circassia Walnut Burl. Blade is secured by riveted and polished brass rivet. Wood texture perfectly fit to colour of cowhide sheath.
Overall lenght 234mm / 9.2", blade lenght 115mm / 4.5" and 4mm 0.157" thickness

Sweet handle shape! Reminds me of a high end double barrel shotgun. Especially with the choice walnut.
 
I've tried this relief, recently, with less success! What tools did you use to achieve such a smooth cove between the two elevations? Was the handle art a big time burner as a percentage of total time spent on the knife? It is an absolutely beautiful finished product!!
