Hey there!
I'm looking for a re-curved fighting knife, I am willing to spend a lot. Maybe something on the lines of the Walter Brend Model 2 knife.
Cheers!

James

James,

I see Model 2 Brends on the secondary market for $1850 to $3500 depending on age, handle material and condition.
You could put an ad up in the Wanted To Buy section here if you're sure that's what you want.
At that price point there are many other recurve designs available, not that there's a thing wrong w/Walter Brend's
Model 2.
Just a suggestion, from a forged blade guy..
who would love a Brend Model 2. :)

I fully understand you Doug, I just want to know if there is any other nice looking recurved knives out there because I cant seem to found any. Walter Brend's recurves are amazing but using a few thousand dollars is a bit aggressive for a knife (a great one), however I just want to sniff around first before spending a nice amount of cash on a fantastic knife.

Cheers

James

You could start anywhere, spend the time, do the research.
For me it would be Jason Knight, Nick Wheeler, Samuel Lurquin, Bill Bagwell, Russ Andrews and so on and so forth.

Enjoy the hunt !

Tad Lynch, Nick Wheeler, Jason Knight & Ben Seward do some mean recurves. My money would be to any of those gentlemen.

Scott McGhee is a name that readily comes to mind also....

This is the Proto for the Fighters Mr. McGhee made for Wilson Combat that I am honored to have. :)

Here's Scott and the Wilson knives, picture by his lovely wife Lydia. :)

My vote goes to Jason Knight, Nick wheeler and Samuel lurquin they make some of the very best combat pieces out there.

Mine is one of Tad's yea. I'd forgotten bout that one from Scott. He makes some really tidy recurves too. Lurquin too his Tsavos and the big Bowies he does have great shape to them.

One thing is you're not going to be stuck for choice.

How about a Rod Chappel Hunting Leopard knife?

There's one on a well known auction site right now at a very decent price ... very few makers (past, present, and future) have his level of skill.

Trust me, Rod was one of the best when he was still making knives. You get a lot for your money: the grinds, mirror polishing, symmetry, fit and finish are all impeccable ... plus his knives are built for hard use and cutting performance. ;)

All makers mentioned would be great. I think if you like the Brend grind and aesthetics, look into Jim Siska.

Here's a Tad Lynch Integral Damascus recurve Fighter.....a wonderful piece.

James,

You have been given a galaxy of stellar makers. Your biggest problem will be finding examples of their work for sale.

The Scott McGee Wilson Fighter posted by Dawkind is a magnificent example of what I think you are after.

If you want a fighter to actually carry and fight with, if compelled to do so, I strongly suggest a Glock.
Failing that, two fast and concealable Fighters for simultaneous deployment.

For such an instance, Nick Wheeler and I conspired to create "Double Trouble".
