Got to try out my home made smoker tonight. It was made entirely out of recycled parts. The main body is made out of an old air compressor, the grill is from a stainless steel welding cage that got hit with a forklift. The tempature gauge got thrown away at work because someone was to lazy to change the battery. Total cost to me was $4.24 for the battery:)

They were so tender they just fell off the bone, sorry they didnt last long enough for me to get a picture of the tender morsels of meat.

Who else is hungry?:D

sweet set up. been thinking of making something similar with Refrigerant cans...kinda like propane cans. saw something like it in Backwoodsmans a while back.

Nice! Speaking of Backwoodsman Mag, you should send in some pics and a description of the project. I'll bet they publish it!

Thanks for the comments.

Dipbait, I used a mix of hickory and apple to smoke them and it took 2 small pans

I made one out of a metal garbage can and a hotplate :D awesome things. Give the hotplate a try if you're near enough electricity. I'd imagine it much easier to control heat. just a cheap 10 dollar thing with a pie plate on top works great.

That's awesome. Who the heck throws away something that works because it needs batteries? I can't believe how wasteful some businesses are. Crazy. You do make me hungry though you bastid.:D I even have a bunch of apple wood to use for smoke but no grill.

If you ever wanted to come over with some of that I'd be willing to vouch for it to everybody else- really- I'd take one for the team like that.

My basement has tons of stuff thrown away at work, but I've never made a smoker before.

That's awesome, man. I love to see people making grilles out of different things. Cool
