I could not hold out any longer, so I ordered a TGLB in Tan on Tanker today. I am having second thoughts about the handle.
My gut is telling me to change it to Red/Black. Does any body have anything in Red/Black on Tanker they could post?
I could really use a visual to help with this decision.
Thanks
Rick

I think that would look pretty awesome! If you gut says go with it, I would go with it! Congrats on your TG :D

Honestly, I would just go with the pictures of them on the site. They're going to be the most accurate pictures anyone has right now because those are machined, and they are what you'll be getting, so it won't be misrepresented by other red-black scales with different machining patterns.

Edit: Oh, I see there's no tanker gray and red & black on the site... here's some poor Photoshopping:

I have a red black g10 on tanker gray rodent rucki...it looks awesome. But tan micarta looks great too...it darkens with exposure and oil etc. and looks better than what you see in factory photos...plus it's much more grippy. Either one will look good...if UR going for pure function choose micarta...otherwise, red black g10, which will still function just fine btw. I've been absolutely no help...

That puts things into prospective, I wont ask how you did that but Thanks.
I love Tan Micarta, it looks so organic to me, I also like the contrast it has with Green and Tanker
and it feels so good in hand, but something is telling me to go with Red/Black on this one.
Thanks again this is a great help
Rick

Edit: OK, This is where I bounce between here and the Busse Tanker/Tan window 500 times untill I drive myself insane...

Tan micarta definitely looks the most organic...i.e., similar to wood in look and feel. Red/blk g10 is kinda special in that you don't see it commonly on other knives. Black canvas mic is the most comfortable and user friendly but looks the least attractive and is very commonplace (but #1 for function). That's my worthless opinion on the matter. You know what they say about opinions...mine stinks too.

Wait...what is the difference in function between tan and black canvas?...Or is the tan paper?

Thanks

In reality...probably nothing if you tested it...just my personal opinion. In my experience, black canvas is the most comfortable, but tan canvas is a close second but looks better...again just my opinion, not universally validated by any means. There's a billion differing opinions I'm sure.

The red and black g10 looks great on tanker grey in my opinion. And it makes it look like an Ohio State Buckeyes knife, so it has that going for it. LOL.

Dude, that's some good photo manipulation...can ya give me a pick of muddy with black/green g10?

When I first got my Waki with muddy blade and green/black G10, it wasn't my favorite combo. Not that it looks bad, but I didn't care for it. It has, however, since grown on me and I like it now. Here is a pic:

I rencently saw this photo in swamp forum... it was this photo seriously made me rethink things. I think it looks Awesome! I call it Pacific Forest Camo! It's purdy like a tree. The problem with indoor factory pics is that it never really looks like that in person...I prefer the personal pics. BTW, I used to have that same exact gun...sold it before I ever shot it...I guess I'm a single stack traditionalist, when it comes to 1911s anyway...or just indecisive. Does it shoot good for ya? Reliable? I have a little seller's regret.

Decision decisions --- I orderred tanker grey with the blue black but I also was wondering how the red black looked.....it looks spretty good too.

This particular one is a rare bird in that while it is still a high-cap (14+1), is has a 4.25" commander length barrel (it's called a LTC high-cap, model PCX1445E). This is one of the later models in this line and has a SS barrel versus carbon steel on some of the earlier ones. I have not had any problems with it, though I have not shot a lot through it (maybe around 400 rounds), and it is pretty accurate too. I boought this back when the Para's were one of the highest capacity .45's out there, and primarily for that reason. I got the commander versus the full-length slide because I have a soft spot for them for some reason. Turns out the commanders are pretty rare now.

Tanker with blue/black was my second choice. There is still a chance I may order one.

Another possible consideration is that G10 is going to be heavier than micarta. It will also transfer some additional vibration if you chop or baton with your knife.
