The post I made previously which referenced the DigiLight PIS series of lights caused me to shop for a few more. They come in red, blue, green, white, and infrared versions. Pardon my ignorance fellas, can someone educate me on what the advantages are for each type of light. I searched online but can't come up with anything. Thanks.

Red- Preserves night vision, less intense light beam ergo the light doesn't travel as far nor is it going to be as bright.
Blue- Tracking wounded game. Also, less intense beam.
Green-UNK. I assume that it would have similar intensity properties to red and blue but be visible on colors that may not be red or blue light visible. May have other applications too.
White- I had no clue why my Gooseneck came with white. I use it when I want to lessen the beam intensity without a red or blue tint.
Infrared lights- True infrared lights emit an invisible beam that when used in NV will produce a light up effect. Kind of cool I guess;)

I use the red LED's at night to preserve my night vision when rummaging in packs and navigating around camp. I also carry a white light of some type for when it really need to see at night.

I've never played with the other colors, but never felt the lack either. Mac

The other colors (green or blue) are generally used for signalling others in your party at reasonable ranges, as they can be seen pretty far in clear weather.

You know, 3 flashes equals this, 2 slow flashes equals that... since few people study Morse code anymore....

I think you can also use it to see traces of semen on the bed sheets. Which I hear is what you DO NOT want to do when you go to a motel. Unless you want to sleep that is.:D

I don't know if that's the same blue light... you really would need something more in the UV spectrum for that....
