Anybody know where to get one, I did a search and found a conversion kit on Amazon, but am just looking to see if there is a red replacemnt bulb for this light. Didn't see one on Maglights website.

Any help is appreciated.

Some varmint hunters use RED Dykem to tint their high power light lenses. Believe it is a dye/paint used by blueprint or drafting types...Google might help.

Piece of red cellophane and rubber band, while not cool, could work. I got a red lens cover with a SureFire Executive many years ago but was a pain in the fanny to keep track of..glad when I finally lost it.

You can go to a store and buy a red LED and trim the leads down. Try finding a 1 watt LED, anything more would get hot. Then trim the leads on it down to the size of the bulb in the mini maglite. If it doesnt turn on turn it 180 degrees and try the leads the other way.

If you reverse the polarity on a LED it pops. Instantly.

True, but you can get cheap 5mm LEDs at radio shack in a 5 pack for a few dollars. They're no the brightest or prettiest beam but they do work. Also, if you just touch the LED to the bulb contacts to check polarity breifly they usually don't die instantly. You'll have to drill out the reflector to fit the led unless you can find some 3mm LEDs.

or you can cut out a suitable circle of the red cellophane and mount it behind the lens of the torch.
even better is stage lighting "gel" which is basically slightly thicker cellophane, so its easier to handle.

Gel is what I use for MiniMags backstage. I use blue though. They are called Filters. Look up Rosco, Lee, or Gam. They are the three largest manufactures

Maglite makes a filter kit for the AA light. Comes with several different color lenses and a plastic holder that slips over the end of the light.

There's a bunch of red LED drop in for those mini mags too:

Ooops, looks like they discontinued that model. Try ebay. Someone's probably still selling them there.

This is a better version of the old colored LED drop in's, also discontinued, that you might look for on ebay. They came in RED too.

The telescope guys use these things when they need some light.

aditional tip: it may be possible to get hold of the sample packs that these companies do. basically you get a little booklet of all the various colors of gel, plus some other filters.
I suspect this is somewhat cheaper than ordering rolls of the stuff (might even be free), and you don't end up with huge amounts lying around that you don't need.
