Red Deer antler finish and patina?

I have a few knives that I am working on using Red Deer antler for the handles. They are white and I was wondering what I can use to give them more color? I am thinking more like Elk antler. I was also wondering what if anything to use to finish them?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
