red dot shields

i am with you very curious. wonder if the red dot was put there or is the ole Taylors up to new tricks? which does look like it.

I think they are pinned shields, but not sure why some of them have a red colored pin. You don't see them too often, but they are not the first ones I've seen. No doubt they are Schrade Waldens or Cut Co vintage.

My apologies to all --

I made a what I thought was a joke about the 'red dot' in another post i've left. A POOR JOKE IT WAS. I have a dark sense of humor and it's not well received in more places than the forum. Sorry.

My Schrade Cut Co 2203 never had any 'red dot' to my knowledge.

I should have just posted my opinion and not joked at the thread and the search. I honestly hope no lasting offense has been taken.

Here's another attempt of sarcastic humor that was wasn't well received.

For what it's worth - I think the 'red dots' are one individual's means of marking ownership for his knives. I know I've seen that same marking before, back maybe 7-8 months ago on the auction site.

With my CRS (can't remember stuff), I can't be sure, but, I may have even questioned the seller at the time. Seem to have some recollection of an answer like "Thats how my Dad marked his knives". Have no hard evidence of the eMail though. Howie

Howieareyu...LOL....you even had me going back and looking at my knives to see if I am developing 'OldTimers Disease' as I could not recall ever seeing a dot on any of my shields....then came to the same conclusion as you..someone was just marking their own knife......I nearly posted a reply immediately after your post asking if the owner was golfer who marked his golf balls the same way...?...LOL....Hoo Roo
