I love the muskrat pattern, but none of the cover options really satisfy me. The micarta is the closest, but I am having a hard time loving the unique “red onion” coloring. Has anyone here considered or actually proceeded with dyeing theirs? Plain black crossed my mind, but I wonder if there might be something less obvious that would look cool.

An aside in defense of the muskrat: keep one razor sharp for puncturing and push cutting bags and soft packaging. Use the other for general purpose like cutting on a cutting board, pruning vegetation, sharpening pencils etc. I love long and pointy, so 2x clip is double the fun.

Case has a lot of great options for their muskrat. I'm guilty of window shopping for them. Good looking stuff.

The recent 81s are among my favorites that GEC have made in the past few years. Tons of blade in such a slim and easy to carry package.

This is basically how I use mine. The primary blade is for everyday stuff, cutting tags, strings, packaging, etc… it will get a bit more toothy edge when it’s time to sharpen as that’s my preference for those kind of cuts. The secondary blade is for food and has a rather polished edge since that seems better for cutting up fruit and such. Plus the secondary blade has a bit more downward angle when open which is better suited to cuts on a flat surface like a cutting board.

The other benefit of these 81 muskrats, people don’t really seem to like them so they’re easier to get.
