I got the top knife ground knife (less handle) from a local knifemaker so I could add my own touches to the profile and shape the handle. As you can see, I contoured the the handle and added a bottle opener that works great! I placed it next to a couple of Busse knives for size comparison and Busse content. I have one of the Busse apprentice blanks I will be doing next.

Sorry, I should have been more clear, I didn't grind the primary bevel on the blade, I only re-profiled the outer profile of the blade and added the handle. The blade material is 154cm.

Hey that may be more work that some knife makers do now.;)
 
Looks cool and a great idea with the bottle opener. How about if it was where the thumb rest would be and be a thumb rest and opener and not have to worry about slipping and getting cut after a few beeers??

Sweet blade Tim! You did a nice job on the bottle opener and the shaping of the scales! Looks very ergonomic! I especially like the edge. I'll bet that thing could split atoms!
 
Great job. The blade catch is awesome, and the sculpted micarta looks about perfect.

Thanks for the complements, this knife modding is fun, I might have to get a real grinder at Blade! That is if I have any money left over after I leave the Busse booth! :eek:

That would work too, but there wasn't any extra material on top to have made the bottle opener out of. After a few beers though, I don't know if the sharp edge of the knife facing up would be any safer!! :eek:
